I'll agree that Ralph runs a tight ship and that's great. But there's no comparison to the royalties received from the oil industry in Alberta compared to BC or SK. Remember Alberta was a "have not" province before Leduc.
And yes, ON could definately be run without dept. We can do better.

Alberta has always been a giver and never a taker when it came to transfer payments. Also if the NEP hadn't stolen billions of dollars from Alberta, we would be the richest country (yes I said that) in the world right now. Who instituted the NEP? That's right, the Liberals.
Alberta is doing well because of Klein, he understands that if you live beyond your means for many years, you have to really tighten the belt to get out of debt. I worked at the hospital when he started many of the cutbacks and couldn't believe the bitching andd moaning they did about them. I said "if at your household you had 5 credit cards and were $200,000 in debt, do you think eating out and going to the movies every night is a good idea?" that's what the government is doing and someone needs to stop it. It sure isn't going to be the Liberals.

agreed, ill be voting for the most west friendly candidate, maybe help some farmers who are still stinging from the BSE ordeal, its amazing, an ice storm hits quebec, and its a national emergeny.... half albertas economy is basically vaporized in one day and the government doesnt even notice it??? wtf is that about? oh and dont even get me started on the government giving cash to air canada, screw that, if they go under then they go under, air canada is a prime example of our liberal government, the fatcats arent willing to take a pay cut to save the system, so they lay off 20 people whos combined salaries are still lower then one upper management type and expect things to be ok???
how many people here have, or do own their own business?? wouldnt it be great if u could run it 5 million bucks into the ground, then go to the government and say "um lil help?" and get a bailout package thats BS, i dont see martin offering to pay off my soundsaround card, why should my tax money go to keep a sinking ship afloat another year or 2?

Mike is bang on about the voting for your riding too. We don't so much elect a party into federal government as we elect the schmoe who is going to look after us locally. That should carry weight.

Dereck, I apologize if the statement I made about transfer payments was incorrect. I am sure I read that when reading about the history of the oil industry in Canada.
So, is there a tougher job than being a Liberal canidate in Alberta?

But Quebecs power goes out, because of an ice-storm and Ontario sends in our Military power? I'm sure it must be the same for the west....heavy snow and ice storms are part of life, like Ontario puts up with rediculous humidity and stupid cold in the winter without much snow at all.
