I think they look nice, but over the past few years here I've noticed some members not caring for Bose much. Referring to their structure as cheap, overpriced, paper cones made out of nothing more special then a 10 dollar speaker.

For $2000 you can get a lot of speakers. The 901 has been around for a while (30 years) and it was never considered competitive at its price point. Their bass is disappointing and their HF presentation is disappointing too.
I agree, audition one prior to buying.

With Bose, you're not paying for the components you're paying for their research & their designs.
My advice to you would be that your ears will tell you all you need to know.

Quite possibly one of the ugliest speakers ever, and still, made.
"The introduction of the revolutionary Bose® 901 speakers in 1968 redefined the phrase “high fidelity."
Yep and just by looking at their 'mod' design, it's like looking at a relic from 1968. And why would such an extraordinary speaker come with it's own equalizer? And from what I recall of seeing a set, there are two bands on the eq: mid-bass and mid-treble. Nice. Probably to smooth out the huge peaks from having 9 4" midrange drivers trying to do the full-range spectrum.

Quite possibly one of the ugliest speakers ever, and still, made. Just my opinion though.

You guys know the saying...
No highs, No lows..... It must be bose !
Hey zzzzz... if you need your speakers reconed I can see if I can get identicle kits for em.... $700 is pretty rediculous IMO, even if they are rebuilding the crossovers to boot....
blown/damaged tweets will need to be replaced unless bose has the diaphrams for em...
