K, I was just gonna post a small post, whining about my Friday, but it gave me an idea for a full thread.

What's the worst day of your life?

Until last Friday, mine was the day my ex & I had split up. But if I could go back now, I'd do that day three times over instead of last Friday...

But, last Monday, I had called a vet and booked an appointment to have my fifteen year old dog put down. I booked it for late as possible on Friday, so I'd have the weekend to lose my mind afterwards.

And that I did. By Wednesday, I wasn't to happy anymore. Friday morning hit, and I was on edge. As the day progressed, I got weirder and weirder... Brought Jules with me for a last visit at the shop (he used to work with me at the shop everyday, until I retired him a couple years ago)... Then we left here at 1:00 or so, and I took him for a last walk at the park.

While at the park, I became a blithering idiot, and was starting to think maybe I shouldn't get it done... Then he couldn't get into the van afterwards, and I knew it was time.

So I went to the vet, I could hardly speak... And got it done... Then afterwards I hit the highway (something I do as a stress killer). By the time I got to Canmore, I was at least thinking straight again, had some dinner, and then drove down Hwy 40 a bit (Kananaskis) and spent the night in the van.

ANYway... That was my worst day. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I'll miss ya Jules

I don't even want to think of this day with my family members. It's hard enough letting go of the rescued malamutes that we have through our home. There is no pain quite like this, it's even harder when this is done to your spouses family member that she has been with longer than you. To see the pain in her eyes and there was nothing I could do about it. On to the Rainbow bridge for Jules, a better place until you meet again.

Sorry to hear that Bob.. my condolences...
I hope you find another dog.. but I know thats impossible.
Mine was when my best friend of all my teenage years (my Cat) was hit by a car.

I came home to a note left in my mailbox.. "if you have a black and white cat... call me its important 278-XXXX" Apparently this note was left in about 20 other houses in the surrounding area At first I was seething with anger since I thought somebody took my cat and was holding him for ransom.. So I was about to rip they're head off when I called... but I was prepared for anything..
Apparently somebody hit him.. and he was in very bad shape.. so the person that hit him rang the doorbell of the closest house.. thinking the cat was theirs. The person at the house was kind enough to put these notices in everybodies mailboxes to let the person know.

It was a house a few down from mine. So she said to come over and identify him. Probably the worst feeling... every step made my heart sink worse.. knowing there were a few black and white cats... but mine was nowheres to be found. He was stuffed into this shoebox.. with his head down into a corner of the box. Apparently his eyeball was hanging out.. and he was in really bad shape so she said not to take him out. I didn't. I hurt to see his fur all bloody... just his lifeless body sitting in the shoebox.

Carrying it back to my house was the worst thing.. he was my best friend through all my high school years.. when friends came and went.. as usual.. I always had him to look forward to.
he was my best Pal that I loved to death.

Its been almost a year since that Feburary day..

first time I've cried since then is now.

God that Hurt...

At the moment I'm not sure what the worst day of my life was but IMO it isn't much fun sitting around thinking back to what exactly was the worst day of your life so I'll keep it in the pet theme;

My pet growing up was my cat and yes it was the coolest damn cat ever. Anyways it was getting old and in rather bad shape and I knew the time was soon approaching but I was expecting to be able to say goodbye to it and not come home from school and have my parents tell me they felt it was time to put the cat down so they had it done that afternoon.

Sorry for your loss. As they say, fond memories last forever, and I am sure you have plenty of them. My condolences.
