If i can't find a smaller thickness wood for my surround setup in my house, would 3/4" work or be to much for it? What thickness of wood should I use/ask for when calling Home Depot and them places?

Thanks

OK, just didn't know for home use if it needed to be thicker considering it would be for rear speakers that don't usually put out major bass etc etc... but yeah it's all good 3/4" it will be... Just to get an idea for Rear Surround for those that have 6" or 6.5" rear what's the specs on ur boxes like W*H*D just wanting to get an approx size to work from...this isn't no professional project of course just something to pass the time....

Thanks

I'd also use 3/4". If you're just doing a couple small boxes, home depot sells small sheets too.

Is the wood just for the Surround? You could drop down to half inch providing you are not looking for bass out of them.. Now for a Subwoofer then 3/4" is cool..

If you are using MDF -- use 5/8" -- it is actually more dense than 3/4" because the same amount of material is used to make both thicknesses.

usually go for .25, to .3 for a 6".
6X6X12, or any variation should sound good...

I ended up with 1/2 inch, for what they where goin to be used for I saw 3/4 as a huge waste once I got to Home Depot... I think the boxes ended up like 12" and abit high, by 6-7" deep and 8 1/4 or 8 and 3/4 wide, at work not so can't member exactly......only thing now is do I port it or leave it sealed? with being a rear speaker don't want it to have the muffle sound or if I decide to use it as front speakers for another room or something....
