Winter Tyres ... help me please

I have been to my local tire-shop ... they're retards.
So, I ask of the general CCA populous that lives where snow isn't a huge issue but still have to drive through slush and just generally crappy roads.
I live in Guelph, Ontario. Road conditions here are typically good but we get occasional decent snows and it either turns into slush/goo or snow with half-ice underneath.
So, anyone have any suggestions for a good tyre that I can get for a reasonable price? I have been suggested Blizzak LM-22 and Toyo <ones with the walnuts> so far. My tyre size is 205-55-16.

Anything by cooper is awesome priced, and I have had absolutely no complaints with the ones I am running for summer. I would not hesitate to run their winter tires either. Right now I am running Hankooks for winter and they are phenomenal.
If you are running through mainly sluch and crappy roads, I would go with something more all season as opposed to winter tires such as Blizzaks. If snow and ice is a problem I definitely recommend running winters.

Motomaster tires suck, IMO ...
I don't live where there's much snow, so I have rain tires ... Goodyear [img]smile.gif[/img] Upgraded to them from Motomaster LXRs (~$100/tire, came with the car) and I noticed a huge difference ... Quieter ride and better grip (especially in the rain).
My previous car came with Motomaster AW+s which I swapped out for BF Goodrich Radial T/As on the front ... Noticably better grip ...
Wal-Mart's cheap tires are even worse in the opinion of most of my friends who have owned both ...

I currently own the Nordic brand from Crappy Tire (not Motomaster) and they are great IMO. I have also owned a pair of studded winter grips (Pacemark I think?) that I noticed Wal-Mart carried and they were also great. I suppose it depends on how much you want to spend.

But for rain, I know the cheap tires suck every **** in the county ...
I just assumed it would be similar for snow ...

My g/f commutes b/w London + home through a couple of snow belts so I got her a set of Blizzaks. Amazing grip, but so soft a compound they seemed to wear fairly quick on dry pavement. Well over $100 per 13"tire.
Next set are the Nordic Trac from C.Tire. Not quite as soft a compound but better wear. They do a good job in the snow also. And for about half the price of the Blizzaks, I found they are a fine set for our Southern Ont type of winter.

i ahve had great exp with yokohama avid's
i put my camaro on the road for the summer and brand new yok's and wouldnt you know it snowed the same day, didnt slip/slide once in 1/2 foot snow.
tried bf goodrich r t/a
dunlop qualifiers
firestone
and a bunch of others
avids were the best.
