right now I am listning Tom Waits - Mule Variations through these:

(The ones on the right to be exact.)

Al from RAW Acoustics in Surrey builds these beauties and offers them either complete $3500 or as a kit $1150.

He was nice enough to drop these and two other pairs off at my place the other day.

Sad news is I only get these for two weeks then he takes them back.

In room response in the mid 40's, 95dB sensitivity, and they are taller than me!!!!

Initial listning tests show that they are beautiful sounding and very easy to drive.

The next pair I will be using are not nearly as tall or visually over-powering, but they are tuned to 29Hz using the Adire Extremis 6.8 driver.

Power....not much at all.

I use a 80w*2 Marantz receiver, and Al uses a 20watt tube amp (If I remember correctly). They get very loud and sound so very sweet at high volumes. In fcat I can take them louder than my Paradigm bookshelfs without the wife complaining!

They were designed to be used with low-power amps.

I watched Polar Express without a sub - and I didn't really miss it!

I'd really love to take a listen to those. I've heard the theory behind line-source speakers and that with proper digital processing and not analog Xovers and time delays they can sound amazing to the trained ear.

These are not a Line source, just Line array
These have passive crossovers and no time delay - and they sound fantastic to my ears.

Time delay and digital crossovers are not necessary if you properly design the cabinent and the passive crossovers. Both of which it apears Al has succeed to acomplish here.
