What do i need to know about a Wii?

Recently picked up a Wii, sorta spur of the moment....and it cost me an arm n a leg. But none the less, I've got it, Zelda and Wii sports...and yeah. Ended up with 3 main controllers and two seperate ones that attatch.

What are all these shenanigans about modding? Is it worth it? I'd likely have to get it done, I'm not smart enough, or least have had zero practice with a sodering gun. So what are the ups n downs?

How about this thing where you can win points for playing - what kinda games do you have to buy to win points?

Overall - are there any major must have games out there? Both party like as well as just fun/intense for a single person!

Heh... well I was leaving this alone because I didn't want to sound negative, but I had one a few months ago and sold it about 2 months after.

The problem is that once you get over the novelty of the controllers it gets pretty boring. There are only a few games for it that are decent so it gets old pretty fast.

The only time I've heard of people keeping it and enjoying it on a regular basis is if they're the type of people who have friends over a lot and use it more as the centerpiece of a party. (sounds like you're that kind of guy though, so you may be very happy with it!)

I don't mind the negative comments. Everyone's allowed an opinion. I ended up buyin it mainly for Zelda (big zelda fans) and the games against each other are neat, as well as the ability to play old school games is nice (not that i've got that far).

Since a few folks have tried it, has anyone tried connecting the component cable package up? A few review on the internet have said the picture is much improve. Nintendo talks about being near HD (eventhough I don't believe it is). The only reason I ask is due to tiger woods 08 didn't look as nice as i thought it could have on the 55" tv.

My buddy has the component cables... I honestly didn't notice too much of a differece... I really only was able to compare Madden and the Wii Sports games.

I just picked up Mortal Kombat... it was pretty good, had a bunch of people over and we had some fun. I just don't suggest doing it anywhere near anything expensive or solid. A friend of mine had a little too much Crown and Ginger and ended up putting a remote into the wall on his backswing playing Golf... :-)
