Virus/Firewall protection

Just wondering what everyone uses out there for virus and firewall protection. Back a couple years ago, I bought the McAfee Virus Scan 6.0 which included a firewall. I was happy with the virus part of it, but found the firewall didn't work very well. Now after a year or two of having it, it is not letting me get virus updates off their site as it says I need to purchase new software.
So, I am looking for a new program. Somthing that I won't have to purchase new software every year. Also I want somthing that automatically uptates itself.
Anyone have somthing they are happy with? I was think about going Norton. Any pro's or con's over McAfee?

Symantec Antivirus as it does not require yearly subscriptions. not the same as Norton Antivirus.
Zonealarm for firewall.
I'm not a big fan of mcafee's. Judging by Microsoft's decision to not use Mcafee anymore for hotmail, i think it's pretty clear. Way too heavy on resources and i don't find it works very well anyways.

I use McAfee 7 but with Zone Alarm as my firewall. ZA is free, slick, simple to use, and is actually "better" than the Pro version you can buy. That and the router firewall makes a good hardware/software combination.
The McAfee firewall is brutal. I tried it and uninstalled it immediately. The above combination is very efficient, and light on processor use too.
McAfee 6 still works great - uninstall/registry edit/reinstall (without the firewall) should solve your problem!
