What I would do is take the cheaper integrated one (it'll still play all of todays games, and use the $300.00 in a year or two to upgrade to a better graphics card when the prices on the 512mb ones come down.

Or if ya wanna get with the times, although i have no idea on pricing, might be smart to head the way of the PCIexpress standards

No a 6600 GT is just more powerfull then a 6600. He said that he would want to be able to play doom 4 when it came out and stuff. I don't think anything less would be able to play doom4.
Also I think all pci x cards can do sli but I am not 100% sure about that.
If the GT is too much then just get a 6600. They are good cards for around $250. Much better then the 9800 in some aspects.

Do not go with integrated Video unless absolutely necessary. If you do; make absolutely sure there is a AGP or PCI-E slot available for the future, if not then, in 1 or 2 years you will be buying a new Motherboard or a whole new PC.
On a Side note:
I am running 2 6600 GT's in SLI, it is unbelievable. I am running doom 3 and the exspansion at the highest resolution possible and not even a chop. That is the way of the future and that is why I decided to go that way. If you are looking at ATI you cant go SLI yet, Nvidia is the only manufacturer right now with chipsets both on the Video Card and Motherboards to support it. Ati is planning on joining the SLI front but is still along ways away as INTEL, VIA, SIS, ETC... chipsets are still not capable of this feature.
