olympics are generally supposed to be the best that your country has to offer. If i'm sending guys to represent my country, they're gonna be the best i have (most likely professionalls). It's not about who gets the glory. If the amateurs are good enough, they'll become pro's soon anyways. They'll get their chance.

as for the basketball team, haha, didn't they lose to italy in the prelim's too? Funny stuff.

They take away that glory from someone else who doesnt have THEIR JOB that may be more deserving of the spot.

I also don't think that any of the NBA stars care if they win a gold medal or not. To them the NBA championship is far more important. And if I was a pro player in any sport I'd probably agree. That and they make about 15 million plus a year. Who cares about a gold medal? LOL!

I'm not saying a gold medal wouldn't be nice, but I don't think I'd be tore up over it. Once I get home to my 5 million dollar house and 13 car garage and my 5 championship rings.

So you're saying that someone who isn't good enough to play basketball for a living should be given the chance?

Why not just send me. Hell, I don't train at all for any sports. So I deserve even more of a shot!!

Send your best, lets see what country really has the best atheletes in the sport.

Would you really be happy knowing you beat a team full of a countries most mediocre players?

OH... btw, I went to college to be a LAN admin. But clearly it's not fair that I get to work on computers all day.

Do any auto mechanics or basket makers want to come in and try and run my network? It's only fair, right??

Holy miss the point off the olympics batman.

Its an amature sporting event. Amature means NOT PAID FOR PLAYING.

Is there seperate catagories for sponsored SPL competitors? Or does everyone compepete against eachother?

Actually.. I get the point.

They were orignially supposed to be games where cities would send their best athletes to compete. (we're talking Roman times here)

Then eventually they had a reincarnation where some guy decided that it should only be for amatures.

So which one is the TRUE meaning of the Olympics? I happen to think it's the first one.

Send you best athletes and lets see who can win. Period.

Besides, saying that our athletes aren't paid to compete is a bit crazy.

Do you think our top world-class sprinters also have a job at Wal-Mart?

No, they train all year around. And the gov. pays for it.

So what's the difference if you get your way paid by the gov or by the Raptors?

Either way you're getting paid to perform at your sport. One just happens to get paid a hell of a lot more.

btw, it's no longer an amature sporting event. So you can repeat that all you want, but the pro's have been let it.

(and bringing spl comps in to this is dumb so please don't.. I don't feel like getting a cramp from writing a reply THAT long... but as a quick reply. In dbDrag all competitors compete against each other. The "no sponsors for street" class rule was taken out this year.. so your point is useless)
