Thoughts on DELL ?

I would much rather support a local or even Canadian company. If you asked me two years ago, I would say I would never own a Dell and they are junk prefabs (I always had a custom system). However, I've ran into some Dell specials that a guy could have made money from selling the parts. Some specials you can't even come close to sourcing parts for the price, nevermind a legal copy of Winblows and customer support. I now own two Dells and been mostly happy with them. I also got three more for my family and no complaints (plus I can shrug off customer support instead of me doing it!)

The thing I love, they send out replacements without need credit cards... boom 2-3 business days there's ur replacement... Hp does the credit card hold thing but it never appears on ur credit card unless you ship the defective unit back late.. and if u do get charged there pretty quick to reverse it for ya.

You can upgrade them very easy.... Mine can be upgraded to the prescott cpu like 4 gig of ram... However if you want bigger power supply you may have to order direct from Dell on that because of the case, but there nice no tools required except to take the motherboard off the pc.. I use mine for gamming and works great, NFS Underground 1,2, Sims 2 almost any game I have had runs perfect on this system no hickups at all.. Doom 3 smooth like butter... but I also have Radeon 9800 Pro as well to help that.. Just make sure whatver you get, make sure u get external video card if you plain to game if not then shared onboard is fine and you can change the amount of ram normally used to the video card so it goes back to the system.

i don't see why they're not upgradable. I have people calling in all the time wanting various part #'s so they can upgrade this and that.
If you're gonna buy a pc, do yourself a favor and grab some of the new technology like pci-express, don't bother spending 400 on an agp video card.
And in rebuttle to whoever said something about buying from a canadian company.....it's called Dell Canada for a reason.
