I drove a ion red line, it is essentially the same thin as the cobalt. It wasn't bad, but I ended up going with the SRT-4, more ***** for sure but not a great daily.

I enjoyed the ion red line, comfy and a better daily driver. Not that fast but pretty good.

I ended up keeping the srt-4 for a year hehe.

I would say the SS cobalt is defenetly above average in performance compared to similar cars.

My mom bought a 06 Impala LS several monthes ago with 24K km's for $16Gs from a chev dealer......


seems like a much better car and a much better buy then the cobalts you saw....

I like the styling of the Cobalt, aside from the faggy trunklid rear lights, but the interior is all plastic, pretty plain, and in every single one I've replaced the door speakers, they were totally soaked with water.

take this from an owner of one of these not so fine units.

alot of the reason why my car isthe way it is is because i did some modifications to my car.

52,000km on my 2006 SS S/C Cobalt. 3 transmisions, going onto my 2nd motor, cheap leather, no heated leather seats, cd players are poor qulity. onto my 2nd one. poor clutch's in these cars as well.

i like the design of them. they handle well, but when i own a 26G paper weight thats sitting behind my shop waiting for a complete engine over haul top to bottem it gets me pissy.

go buy a honda

saab trans mission
drive train encounters many saab parts
transmission are aparently none servicable. so if it ****s up you need a new one.
motor requires 6.2L's of mobil 1 full synthtic 5W30
18" gun metal wheels with peice of perrlie's
giant over sized rear spoiler
spoiler good for speeds of 200+
spoiler also gives you a profile ofa street racer and caused much greif for me
car's do not have a blockheater
optional to put one on the oil pan
7 speaker pioneer system
stock 10" sub

1990 Z-24 with a 3.1 5spd is lighter then this car both fully loaded

is there any good news to share in regards to the 3.8L series III engines that have 205HP?
in regards to a cobalt having just as much hp but with a far smaller engine

Any one that buys a car that is an ss these days got super soaked on price of car and insurance thats what ss means lol.
That goes for "gt"and all the other cool letters that manufacturers throw on there to make it seem better.

The SS supercharged cobalt actually does it's advertised power at the wheels, and not at the flywheel.

Some people have moded it with a lot of success.

This year there is no superchagrer available for cobalt, however next yeam the new forced induction cobalt will get a turbo, the same turbo\engine combo used in the solstice.

aaaaaaaaa you are correct on those.

it is said the 2nd Quarter she will be ready to buy one.

yes those cars are good to modd and tune... but it also depends on the driver. see i pushed mine 24/7. i won't lie i've out run rcmp. drifted across lanes because i couldn't hook any traction.

the 3.8's very promissing motor in my eyes. GTP's use'd them. nice motor when she had supercharger on em.

Not gettin' down on ya there Chunky, but are you suprised that you've popped the motor and went thru 3 trannies and complain about the clutch on a car you've obviously drove the bag off of? A Cobalt is a cheap (value) car; they don't build them to last. Had you driven it a little less hard, it probably would have treated you better.

When I was about your age, I bought a then-5 year old 88 Mustang GT 5 speed. It was my first real power ride and I was 18. I did my fair share of stupid things with it, but also treated it with respect and it treated me very well back. Never had to replace the clutch on it and I owned it from 81000 kms to somewhere close to 200,000 I suspect (odometer gear broke about 4000 kms into owning it and I didn't replace it for 3 years. Ooops) It never left me anywhere and nothing major on it busted. When I sold it, the first guy that saw it bought it, as he knew it was a 'good one'. And I had that car for 1 winter when I lived in Lloyd before moving to BC. I've taken that car thru winter weather that pretty much anybody out here would not attempt unless in a 4x4

Had I bought the car new with warranty on it, I may have driven it harder but I'm guessing GM isn't going to cover your motor failure? I didn't go too far with bagging my car since I knew if I broke it, I had to pay to fix it.

Blah blah blah all being said, I like the Cobalt SS. Nice looks and respectable power in a fairly affordable package. It will be even better when they get that turbo in there. Downside is it won't be anymore reliable.
