Stop unwanted telemarketing!
#12
i used to do this for a long time and it works like this; your home number is normally aquired straight from the phone book, your business number is aquired the exact same way but from a business directory. it is given that u have your business number is listed somewhere, maybe yellow pages or your local business directory publication......all the B2B telemarketing places get your number from there. either that or u just put that number down on some form or application?? perhaps when u were applying for some business related load, etc??? when u do that you are providing written concent to be contacted, its the biggest loophole ever. you are also given the concent for your information to be sold and passed around.
Most big companies like the ones u listed (CIBC, TD, FORD) outsource their telemarketing efforts to some medium to large sized telemarketing or 'market research' companies, let's call it Yuli's Research Inc.
When a company like CIBC contacts Yuli's Research Inc it will provide Yuli with the record of its customers and numbers to call (your business number included from like 6 years ago when u first applied for a business loan). These records are kept by Yuli's Research Inc in, what is called, Bucket's. Buckets are a category specific data base. So CIBC would fall under a Financial Category/Bucket. Your number stays with Yuli's Inc in that bucket for years!! Then say TD outsource Yuli to do some telemarketing a few month later. Say Yuli calls people but the results are less than desirable (Yuli gets paid from TD per each customer aquisition).....guess what Yuli is going to do now??? Thats right, he's going to start calling people from that financial bucket when he runs out of poeple to call from the list provided by TD. This is why u are getting calls from all these finance related insitutions. Probably same thing with ford, could be that they had a campaign about their low cost financing.....guess who Yuli is going to call about that too? Yep, u again.
Some places also use random number generators. With those all we have to do is input an area code and it would keep generating numbers none stop. This way you are also bound to catch alot of cell phone numbers. This could also be the reason why u get spam calls on your cell. They are not avoidable, however, the probability of occurance is alot lower.....for now anyways.

IMO telemarketing is no different than JW's knockin on your door Saturday mornings. I don't want what your selling whether its long-distance phone service or salvation.

Based on your pre-ban posts alone I am not surprised that you would have had a job as a telemarketer.

Jared have u ever done customer service in a high volume location or a store? try it and then tell me who gets more abuse. try being a collections agent. you might view it as abuse, some see it as a challange and most just dont really care as long as they get their paycheck.

I work for a hearing clinic.
My day involves dealing with hard of hearing people mostly seniors that feel that anyone under the age of 60 owes them something.
I know a thing or two about dealing with unhappy people. It can be a challange for sure.
