Since it doesn't look like there will be an NHL season this year, can they at least give the Stanley Cup to the best team in the country? OK, North America. Whatever league they be in. Have the winners of all leagues play for the title.

I personally think the Stanley Cup should go to Canada's Junior team just because, but they didn't play for it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this may be the one season the Stanley Cup may not be given away...... since 1893. The cup had its roots in amateur hockey, so I hope it goes to the best amateur team.

Keep it in the Hall of Fame and wait for next year. No NHL team won it this year (duh) and it should stay that way. You can't mix up the purpose of Lord Stanley's cup by throwing it around into a different league just because of the NHL lock out.

2 cents.

Not really....... if you check onto the history of the Stanley Cup, it states that it does not belong to any one organization (league), or should it be affiliated with any one organization. I guess the NHL just took over.

The spirit of the cup was to give it to the best team at the time. Well, without the NHL the cup should go to the best team that exists that year!

Disband the NHL, throw the cup back into the Rideau canal, and forget hockey forever.

Why would it be difficult?

The best in each league (champions) play each other for the title. Best of 3, whatever......

OK, if there are too many junior hockey leagues in North America to make it possible, how about the minor leagues.

It really would be a shame to break a 112 year tradition. Oh well........ from the looks of it, I guess most people don't give a rat's derrier.

I think it's obvious. The cup should be brought to the greatest country in the world, the USA! It should be brought here, melted down, and used to make us more dimes and nickels!
