a ticket is a ticket. just dont speed dude. i had my lisence for 6 years now and i had only 1 minor speeding ticket. it was my fault cause i was going down a hill while changing a cd and i whent 106kph in a 80kph zone. lmao 92$ wow -3point outch.. im clear as of mid sept ( this month ) AND i am a pro driver but thats no excuse.
now you have 4 tickets cause you wanted them ( obviously speeding ) soo pay up and watch your insurance crank lmao. ( good luck with that )
btw speeding uses more gas, increases your wear and tear on your car. y dish out ALOT more money than you need to. and now you will pay higher insurances and fines. WTF lmao

As stated previously the fact that your name was mispelled or that your full legal name was not used is irrelevant. On a ticket the only spots that really need to be completed are date, time, location, name, fine, fine amount and officer signature.
If there was a combination of errors on a ticket it may be sufficient to raise doubt in the mind of a judge that the officer was not paying attention etc and could chose to find you not quilty. If would not happen for a simple spelling or middle name omision.
Signing a ticket is not an admission of quilt. It does not matter if it's the VPD or RCMP or any other municipal force. The regulations that govern that are written in to provincial law.
Fine amounts are set in the BC MVA and the one's that appear to apply to you are...
0-20 km/h over the limit = $138
21-40 km/h over the limit = $196
An officer has the discretion to lower the fine amount if he/she so chooses. I assume this occured in your case or the officer would not have mentioned the different fine amounts.
What the officer is referring to with regards to the fine being different is that if you dispute a speeding ticket and lose the judge is obligated to set the fine amount as per the MVA. If you are found guilty of doing 25km/h over the limit you will have your fine imposed at $196. Even if you had previously been charged less money by the officer. In addition the fine reduction of $25 will no longer apply.
Disputing a ticket based on the hope that an officer will not show up has, and continues to be a frequent tactic however, systems are put in place to ensure that most of the time a court date for a traffic dispute is set on days the officer is working. If, by chance it is on a day off, that officer gets double time to be there for a minimum of 4 hours. Tell me that he/she isn't gonna show up? Meanwhile you have lost your fine discount, taken a day off / lost a day off to sit in court. All to be found quilty in the end and pay a higher fine. If it's worth it, great.
Speeding is considered a "absolute liabilty" offence. Meaning, if the judge finds enough evidence to convict you based on an officer's observations then there is no excuse allowed under law to be speeding. So the old, my speedo isn't working...didn't know the speed limit...officer was rude etc...does not work.
And no...quotas are illegal. However I am sure you get a free toaster if you write 100 tickets a month
M2MR...you sure you weren't an officer in another life?

So your arguement lets say is that your name is Mike Smith, a very common name, your defence would be that you are not the right Mike Smith? Or do you think the other information on the ticket would come into play, say like perhaps your DL# and then the officers notes, data entries etc? Just curious as to your response.

from what i understand... if they miss something on the ticket that is on your license you dont have to pay it
a while ago they put the wrong birth date on my ticket
i went to the dmv and they told me i didnt have to pay
im not 100% if it is the same for names but i assume that it is...
