Yea, it's being dishonest, lying, so what?

Who cares? I'm sure everybody here has bought a car from someone like that, I know I have....and I've been dis-honest and sold them to someone else.

Honesty does not go very far these days.

If you were to sell a car that's blue book value was only 1500 bucks over a certain mileage, but under that mileage it was worth 2000, would you not turn the odometer back? (if you had the brains to do it)

I sure as hell would....an extra 500 bucks? I'd do it in a heartbeat. But only because I know I've taken care of that vehicle and the motor would last and the body is good. It's lying but it's not as bad as it would seem since I know I've taken care of it. I spent the money to make sure it's in good working order, so why not get an extra 500 bucks out of it...I think I'd owe it to myself.

If I were to sell, say, a Chevette that I had beaten all to hell, and the motor was still good(bulletproof those motors are) I would leave the odometer alone and almost give it away, but a car like an Accord, or Civic which have great motors and hold thier value...your damn right I'd turn the odometer back.

how do you figure?

I try to sell the car, that's in good shape. The book says 1500bucks is all it's worth. Some guy know's this and see's the mileage and I don't get nearly what I wanted. I could have made 2K but instead the best offer I get is 1000 bucks. That doesn't seem right to me.

I look out for number 1. If I can make a few bucks but it means being dis-honest, then so be it.

If it involves a good friend or family member, I won't even get involved. Don't go into buisness with family and don't sell things to family.
