Plus many owners will pull the dash relay when they purchase a vehicle. This works on quite a few cars. The guages will not work (warning lights still do) but the odometer won't increase either. A small (and illegal) sacrifice for some.

My buddy, when he bought his Caravan, pulled the speedo, engine computer and radio out the day he got it (last years model being cleared out by the dealer). Went to a junkyard, scooped a speedo and computer for like $300 and put in an aftermarket radio.
When he was about 3 months away from selling itm, he puyt them back in and started back at 12km or whatever. Now he works at chrysler and has the computer to reset it.

Nice to see the forum is loaded with criminals. Almost makes me question buying a car from anyone other then a dealer now. I was looking into cars from ontario to purchase, but if they are all as honest as you guys I guess I'll have to go to a dealership which will hurt the pockets alot.

The other thing you can do is this.....if you buy your vehicle from someone that has bought it brand new and was the only owner, there will be no record of mileage untill you do the certification, so you can roll the odometer back and then get it certified with the new mileage.
