Season is over

Time to start a new thread.
Season is done.
These guys are ****ed. The league is gonna be in big trouble. This is absolutley ridiculous.
Goodenow is a ****ing moron (as well as the whole union) because if they settled on accepting a cap a long time ago, I'm sure a deal would've been worked out by now.

I can see where both sides are coming from. No point in continue'n to lose money every year. Kinda defeats the point of a business, which in the end owning a hockey team essentially is.
That being said $42m split between 24ish players ain't a whole lot. Especially not when compared to the NBA's what $60m between like 12-16 players?
On the other hand, compare it to the NFL and it's not far off at all. I believe the NFL set their cap for 2004 at $80m split up between an average of 57 players. Considering you generally have like 2 star players that might make around $8m or so that leaves the rest of the 55 players to make about a million average. Still works out alright if you ask me.
I don't personally think there's anything wrong with the owners wanting a 42m salary cap. Seems silly not to have one. What i don't understand completely is why the NHLPA won't go for it. I guess that instead of making $3m some of these guys may only be making $1.3m. I wouldn't want to have my salary almost cut by a third. But then again, I'm just barely breaking even in my current job and 1/3rd would be below minimum wage. Suppose if these guys weren't making over a million, or very close to it i'd have a lil more sympathy for them.
That all being said about how much money the players are gonna lose, if they're good enough, surely they'll get their money through signing bonus's (which generally aren't considered part of the cap's money) or endorsements.
Either way, i don't feel bad for the players, and i think i side with the owners and bettman (god forbid, i generally dislike bettman) on this one.

I knew the season was over before christmas. It is stupid really just a bunch of millionares fighting with billionares. Pointless. Next year they should all play for free, and games should be free. That might make both sides see that things wern't so bad after all.
