you cheap bastards, it;s like $15 for the full year and it's supporting the canadian scene. it has some decent stuff in it and a lot of good audio reviews. it's nice to often see some local cars your probably never knew about.

What realy killed PAS for me was their world finals "coverage" about 2 years ago. The year before the article was about 6 pages long, had a detailed report about who was there and what the final standings were, and was a great article for someone who hadn't been there. The next year the article was pretty much "We went to finals, there was some cars, and they were cool" then 3 pages of pictures, mostly of demo cars and girls. A Complete waste of paper, and my time. from that point it went downhill faster than an olymipic skier.
Event coverage has gone to hell, product reviews have become a cookie cutter "this is a great product for the money, here's some random numbers that may mean something to someone" load of garbage, and the articles are more of a "here's a 9 second car with a CD player moved to the floor to make room for the 25 guages and a sub in fiberglass in the trunk" than about sound in any relavent, or practical way.

Btw... do you work there or something?

I too think the pictures and girls get a little much, I mean if I wanted to see tons of pictures of girls, I'd go buy hustler... It seems even when there is a car in ther that I would like to read about, or see more of, all the pictures are at these pimp my ride esque angles and I can't even really get a good look at it.
I remember a number of months ago, there was a Civic in there that looked as though it has a nice install, but could I tell? Nope. all the pictures were this mtv style out of focus, and extreme closeups so I couldn't even get a good look at anything... it just seems like they are catering to the pimp my ride demographic, and it really has nothing more to do with sound, than anything else.
regards, Mark

Oh I dunno - I bet I could come up with 2 years worth of tech/install articles. After that, with the way the market turns over, one could literally recycle them, substituting in new techniques as they come on the scene.
Back in 1989 I read a great article on passive crossovers that twigged me into wanting to learn more on them and so on and so on. I have not seen a similar article since then - anyone in the last 16 years missed out.
On the note of reviews...
Rant #2
Back in 'the day' magazines ran HEAD to HEAD comparisons for gear. Yeah that's right - it's 10" Sub month at CA&E so half a dozen manufacturers send in a sample woofer (sometimes in boxes, other times mags used their own). Each piece was judged individually and the good points and so-so points were spelled out (much like reviews today) but then OMG they got RANKED!! That's right - one product was judged as best that day and another had to come in last. It was understood that this is how it worked and someone had to finish last. Guess what - the 'loser' still advertised in the magazine afterwards.
Why it changed, I don't know, but it has sucked booty ever since. How can the public know to buy a Focal comp set when a Visonik set gets a 'very polite' review as well?? The lines get very blurry. retarded.

I like PAS for the fact that they give coverage to local shows that would otherwise not get any. Case in point. Limestone City Soundoff 2. I think this will help the event next year as it does for CSPL.
Limestone City Soundoff 2 Artical.

I agree with Jordy O entirely; moreover, I would like to comment that the one reason I only read Stereophile and What HiFi is the quality of WRITNG in the articles and the more honest reviews. Also, What HiFi uses music people might listen too (I hate rap and classical is boring to me) to evaluate equipment and they actually do head to head and group tests.

once again spl is the demise of the audio mag. very true about tech articles and spl. tips tricks and how to , to me sells. demo cars are trailered to the show.
ca&e this month is all tech with a demo car and seems to have covered all the holes discussed.
when sq was strong so was the mag selection. it took all summer to find a store to carry ca&e.
pas is not even a resource as they focus on nothing. a pic is a thousand words, but not when its a thumbnail.
the future of car audio is in the hands of the sq crowd

Sadly I lost 90% of my collection to a basement flood.
That was indeed the issue that got into the nitty and the gritty of passives. The first part of the article was an issue previous - the one with the white Technics BMW in it
The article on that vette was cool - it went into WHY..
