I don't believe it is owned by Pengrowth. They are an oil and gas energy trust. I believe they pay annual marketing/signage fees. I believe it is still owned by the Calgary Flames Limited Partnership.

HEY BLIND! what do you mean Maple leaf gardens haven't changed???? have you never heard of a place called "The Air Canada Center" ?? i mean thats where the leafs play now, so even with the gardens being empty, its not used for hockey. if it was , trust me, someone would change it!

Pengrowth can just pay for the naming rights.
The Corel Center in Ottawa is owned by the Sens owner Eugene Melnick. Before that it was owned by a group of investors.
They just sold the naming rights to Corel. Corel has never owned the building. Probably the same thing that happened to the Saddledome.

Maple Leaf Gardens hasn't changed. The building still exists and is still called the Gardens.
The Air Canada Center is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BUILDING.
Sure, the Leafs have moved and no longer play in the Gardens. But that doesn't mean the name of the building has changed. [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]
