I was having a serious debate and here you come pulling a Yuli on Yuli

Btw, the only reason why laws don't change is because regular people like you and I don't do anything about it. We pay tax money and then we obey the rules that force us to pay even more "tax" (profit for third party organizations) money.

i think its a great law.

i agree with the jail time for endangement. In my eyes, when you get in the car, you are supposed to obey the rules and be aware of the possible consequences. in my eyes that car excessively speeding is no different from a gun.
i had a dumbass from back in school that got jail time for pulling a gun on someone who was on their property. did he pull the trigger? no. but he directly endangered the guy and hes now in jail. and he completely deserved it.

and its not just to protect pedestrians, its for the jackass in the drivers seat and other drivers. and people walk away from hwy speed crashes all the time, so it is valid at speeds in excess of 100.
I DO agree that if jail time is involved there should be a trial before hand however...i think its kind of pointless though..how can you defend against it?

and come on, everyone likes to say they didn't do it, or the cops had it out for them, or some kind of excuse, but chances are if i get in trouble, i did something to deserve it. everyone needs to take responsibility for themselves and not play ignorant or whatever when you cant accept the consequence.
thats my little rant.

I was being serious yuli. Drivers are idoits and I too have been an idiot from on rare occasions. It's those that push the laws beyond the normal traffic violations - who this is aimed at. Please tell me you aren't one those drivers that these laws are aimed at?

so what separates an idiot from a non idiot? 1km/hr? the difference between 49 and 50 km/hr is what draws the line? Is it really the government's job to tell us who is the idiot and who isnt?

why is there no law that says you must go to jail and have your car taken if you go 30/40/50 km/hr UNDER the speed limit? Which is just as dangerous and reckless. You would get a ticket, but you would not go to jail or have your car taken away or have your license suspended even though you are clearly as much of an idiot for doing so (just as if you were going 50 OVER). Why is that?

what is a normal traffic violation? how can you push the law beyond some point? you either obey or dont obey it. I dont think law is a "pushable" thing.

the two old (60 something y/o) ladies that got off of street racing chargers, were they from the group of the drivers which this law is aimed at? How do they differ from me and you?

I would love to answer your question, wether or not i belong to that set of drivers but your question is very ambiguous.

Please define who or what those drivers do. I want to know if I'm one of them.

You are the person in care and control of the vehicle, you are the person to bear the consequences. If the laws need to be changed to become "in tune" with the Charter, so be it and that is something that they will no doubt be working towards. If the law as it is written right now infringes upon your Charter rights, then that portion of the law is of no effect and as such you should not bear the penalty based on that portion of the law. What they can do though, is fine the ever living snot out of you, increase your license premium and insurance premium to the point that it is no longer affordable for you to drive and then you can sit and whine about it under the protection of the Charter knowing that you will not go to jail over it and that they did not take your vehicle.
