i dunno if i'd solely blame conklin for that last goal. Sure there was a miscommunication, he's half to blame, smith is half to blame. But the rest of hte team also gave up a 3 goal lead.

Bottom line is Cam Ward has turned into a goalie that'll be worth $12M next year. Thats right, $7M cap...and $5M under the table.

Look at it this way: If u were the Coach would u want your goalie who has not played a game in the off-season wondering out behind the net with so little time left in the game. He should have stayed in his net.

That's why every team member should have a decent amount of playing time. You never know when you'll need them. By the way, it's only the first game, and many great players have started their "real" careers in the playoffs. I say give Conklin a chance to proove himself, and hopefully the rest of the team will step up...it is a team sport after all. Anyway they are still better than the Leafs by a huge margin. The oilers have won a cup, re-built the team and are back in the finals. Toronto won 39 years ago, are still re-building, and make the most money of any team in the league...hmmm, where's the incentive? maybe it's time to jump ship!!

Disagree. He's a backup goalie, it's his job to keep the mental state and be prepared for this type of thing. I personally don't think he should be changing his game. Skating isn't exactly hard (even behind the net). I don't believe the problem was totally conklins fault. There was a miscommunication, who didn't yell or hear or listen is tough to say with out askin the two directly.

If smith woulda let it go, it woulda been fine. If smith woulda not bobbled the puck, it coulda been fine. If conklin wouldn't have played it, it coulda been fine. Who knows what they said to eeach other if anything, I just don't think you can blame that 100% on conklin.

His players wouldn't be completely happy if he didn't stop a single puck for them and they got nailed everytime they went to pick it up in the corner.

(thats my thoughts)

Huge game tomorrow guys. I don't care if your a Canucks, flames, Sens, Leafs or Habs fan. I love to see any support for the oilers. They are my team, but a Canadian team with a chance to bring the cup back where it belongs. I want this so bad, plus if the hurricanes wins the cup i'm concerned that this city may burn to the ground making Vancouver 94 look like a Ann Murray concert.

Go Oilers Go!!!
