A 7mm STW is a 7mm (.284) bullet in a 8mm case. Very good gun, ultra efficent, probably get the most out this gun for the amount of power you put in. But all I know is the Remignton Ultra Mag is by far the most powerful hunting rifle you can buy. Although with that gun I can use up a 1 pound of powder in like 50 shells. Very expensive to load for a Ultra Mag but you can't beat the velosity, hitting power, and tagectory.

Now that I think about it, he has a Mini 14 as well in his gun safe, I've only seen it once, probably why I confused the two. I'm not big into guns, so I don't pay particular attention to the models etc.
When we were out a couple weeks ago, another friend had a .338 which had a pretty good kick to it, and the shells were huge. Only problem was it was a southpaw action...
Oh, and here in BC big horn sheep are legal game, they tend to be in the mountains which usualy makes for a long shot, perfect for a STW.

So much misinformation about guns
What Remington Ultra Mag are you talking about? The .300, .338, .375, 7mm?
As for "by far the most powerful hunting rifle you can buy"
Try a Barrett M99, and I still imagine there is something out there more powerful.
