I've seen people get the updates with unlegit copies of xp, not to mention the people that download the operating system illegally, I'm not sayin go out n update it like that JUST incase it does do it, it would make sense for microsoft to do that to keep tabs but personally there's more than likely a way around it, try the website (for the game) to see if you can find a patch or the tech support/help page to see if anyone's have the similar problem before and have had it solved before. It could even be a conflict with your video card or sound card as some games i have conflict with my video card and/or sound card

Yeah I could try that. I don't think EA does any tech support for that game as it's so old now but ya never know. I tried using bootleg passwords but none of them worked so I had to use my friends legit one and he was worried about me loading up the SP1 so I promised him I wouldn't. DOH! My vid card 'should' be okay as it is an ATI Radeon 9600 which is a popular card.

Just get a corprate version of windows XP. This version alows you to run the same copy of windows with different hardware profiles. That is what i am running right now on my lappy as i type. All updates installed and good ol bill is non the wiser.

I do believe thats the video card that i have, awesome eh!? Problem might be in the soundcard seems i'm havin that problem but its onboard sound grrr MSI mb's... lol

Hmmm....maybe I should go to the ATI site and see if they have any updates I need for the card. Nice card though. 128 megs is great for any game I've played so far. When it asks for Video Settings, I crank it all right up!

[img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img] I did that with Need For Speed Underground though I had to turn SOME graphics down as it made the game a bit hard to play cause the detail got blurry when you got so fast lol (speed=blur)

i have working keys for windows that are sp1 compatible, pm me and i can send some, as well as a utility which allows you to simply change the product code without reinstalling xp.

as well, do you have norton or anything running when installing?

sometimes norton blocks scripts which install processes need, so you should ALWAYS shut norton down prior to installing anything.

I worked 11 months doing this sorta thing, and have been helping friends and family buy, build, and repair their computers for about 6 years. if ya need help with a computer just ask, there's not alot i wont be able to walk you through step by step.
