Motor City Online

^ Yep, and there were scads of parts for each selection. From stock to wild. Plus there was forced induction like multiple nitrous oxide setups and blowers. And when you put a blower on your car, you got the whine of the blower too
I work about 1/2 km from EA headquarters. Anytime you wanna drop by to visit them, let me know We did the electrical engineering for their HQ so I got all the floor plans and security layout. Muwahahahahahaha
Like I say, if they took MCO 100% as it was with all the upgrades and cars and such and made it a single player game with peer-to-peer multiplayer capability like most other $15 games out there I would buy it in a second. No hesistation. Just call it Motor City. Done. Then there is not ongoing need to keep paid staff to run and maintain servers and message forums. Oh, and I agree that it was basically the hardcore addicts that killed the game. They would have anything new they released tried and driven to death within hours of it's release and cry for more.

Mike, you missed:
- connecting rods
- lubrication system
- exhaust system
- mufflers (not that anyone ran mufflers)
And there were dozens of automatic and manual trannies, differentials galore, suspension tuning through spring type and rate, shock compliance, swaybars, trac bars, spoilers, tire width and sidewall heights, etc
.
Man, you could really play with the way a car handled in that game but they kept it sane - no messing around with micro camber adjustments and crap like that which is just boring. It was real street tuning
Makes me shake my head when I try to play any NFS game and you get "Handling Package #2"

^^^^ Thanks Dukk ; however, it means you are even more OCD than I am!
Sux, maybe we should "visit" them sometime...
Yeah, some guys were just too hardcore and scared the "casual" racers away.

Everyone that ever played MCO said they would play it again in a heartbeat.
Sux your idea rocks... I would be happy even with the "original" cars, normal parts store and original tracks... I'm not asking for much, just a chance to play the best game ever made... again. It's nice to see that I'm not the only person still thinking about it a year after it is gone.
Unless you played it, you have no idea -- it was it's own "world" -- it had clubs, and live interchanges -- people discussed politics "live" -- it even had an economy of it's own -- one day a car was worth $50,000 - the next it was worth $500,000 because someone lost to one in a race or it had a "rusty" paint scheme.

LOL, that game NEEDS to be brought back out.
I love that you can pick all your own stuff, that's so wicked.
The other game that I liked but I can't find it anywhere now, is an NHRA game for PS2.
I played it at a friend's house and it was just like being in the cars. You had all your classes including top-fuel.....you could tune just about everything and pick engines, tire sizes, transmissions etc...And you even had tranny brakes to control and you really have to watch RPM's....it was so close to driving the real thing it's not even funny.
