Does anyone else remember this game? I was playing NFSU on XBOX yesterday (I'm on Vacation) and I remembered how much I miss MCO, which reminded me how much I miss Earth and Beyond -- they were the best games ever -- man, I have EA now.
Back to MCO -- it was cool because it was interactive and you "built" cars from the engine block up-- I have heard rumors of "rouge servers" out there, anyone else hear anything of this?

You....were....on....MCO
MAN - I LIVED for that game for 18months. The wife thought I was seriously bent. The anniversary of the server shutdown is in just two weeks too
For those that never played - there is yet to be ANY other driving game that even comes REMOTELY close to the driving realism of this game. It felt like you were actually IN the car - you could detect drift and push and correct for them like a real car.
I've played the newer NFS games and they feel like an 80s Atari arcade game in comparison truly sad.
I took over 60 screen shots of all my rides. Hell I still have the game loaded on my machine in the hopes that one day....maybe...
Hell, from what I heard it originally was supposed to be a personal player with peer2peer capability. They should sell all of us that one last patch so we can at least drive off into the sunset with our buddies..
Hey Mike, how about you and I show up at EA in Burnaby there and start asking questions - they can't stop us both!
I am interested in Driv3r but as it is also available for consoles I doubt it will have as good a driving engine as MCO did - the consoles just don't have the processing power.
Here's to you MCO

One more big MCO fan here Nothing, absolutely nothing yet on the market has touched how good of a driving game and everything else MCO had to it. To think that they just scrapped it all after only 2 years of use is truly a crime. I have NFS Underground and eagerly anticipated it being the next generation MCO. I was sadly mistaken. It's just an arcadish driving game made for simple consoles like the PS2 with it designed for kids driving it. MCO was truly a game for the gearhead. The person who loves to tweak and drive their hot rod. I very much miss that game and don't understand why they cannot make a sequel with everything the original had in it, just without the online-only element if they found it cost too much to run. They keep supporting Ultima and games like that but not MCO. I don't get it.

Hey guys... nice to see others enjoyed the game.
Three questions:
1. What was your name(s) and server(s) ?
2. What were your two favorite cars you had?
3. When did you play? (start month/year, end month/year)?
By the way... here are my answers
1. Rockford (go figure) on Pacific Midtown, CCA and Pacific Uptown
2. Trans-Am with the chev 427 "race" block (all goodies), mags -- infamous "skir tsu" set-up.
32 vert, bumpless, fenderless, runningboardless set up with ford 429 "race" block with nitrious set up for drags.
Yes, I had the Cobra, etc. but so did everyone else so I liked driving Belairs, Dusters, Vettes, Firebirds in the weekly class challenges.
3. Started Dec. 14 2001 -- ended when the game shut down last August.
BTW -- Sux and Dukk it SOOOOOOOOOO figures that you guys like MCO!
What is the deal with Driv3r? Should I get my hopes up?

MCO was cool
I went by djerome & derekjerome on 3 of the servers (can't remember wich)
favorite cars were a fenderless 32 with a 1000hp 427 ford
and a Duster with a 440 (couldn't seem to break out of the 800hp realm for some reason though)
I didn't play all that often, maybe a couple nights a week
I loved the real world atmosphere, parts availablity and price changing as stuff was bought up, the car auctions, having my *** handed to me in a drag race cause I got too ****y one night(vowed never to race for pinks again), ect.......

Well, lets see.....what was my handle....
OH yeah - Dukk! I raced the two western servers, Uptown mostly, and Xroads.
Played from Christmas 2001 tothe end of the game.
Favorite cars: Rancheros. Had them all, every paint, all but one in a chop top. Had a vert too and drove the hoodless one one night. I had my chop decal to 212mph on TriOval My drag Ronch could pull the tires off the line too and carry them a car length - contrary to popular opinion...
I drove my Mach1, 65Stang (Citrus Flame), and TransAm the most for Trials and open racing. I kept proper brand motors in most cars. I made Top10 on Redlight a few times.
When bored SUX and I would tool around in AMXs, 340Dusters (mine was a chop), Impalas, and whatever else for fun!
Man I miss that game

Yep, as you would have guessed, my handle was SUX 2BU I played on Midtown under Dukks name for about 4 months and he was on Uptown. Then I got a copy of the game and we raced mostly on Uptown. I also had a person on Crossroads that I didn't use much. I did have an interesting project though on Crossroads and that was to build a competitive car completely from my weekly salary amounts. I used the free Irish Tbird I got on St. Patty's day and put a nitroused 427 Ford I got in a 68 442 I got cheap in the auctions. That car with no scoop or anything poking through the hood could run low 9s in the 1/4 and I did well in races with it, until 8s started becoming more frequent.
My favorite cars were my Christmas cars. I got a 32 Ford for $3000 in Feb. and started dragging it. This was before one of the big upgrades and I got it into the 10s on a 400 HP small block. I loved my 49 Merc CC too. I drove my yellow 65 Stang a LOT and with the 351 it was a fun car to drive. I also cherished my red 57 Chevy which was my first car on MCO.
Near the end, Dukk and I bought totally stock 64 Impalas and would do only a couple of upgrades a night then run Bel Air. It was quite fun.

I used to spend hours tweaking cars... I would let my daugther pick rims and paint jobs -- she used to get mad when I would not paint "rusty" cars (like my rusty hemi cuda). I really miss the auctions and updates... it was like Christmas several times a year... were you guys ever in clubs? I was an officer in COR (canadian online racers) and a couple of other ones -- we did well in the turf wars.
It makes me sad thinking about it, but MCO had:
1. The ability to build an engine from block up
2. The ability to build a car from chassis up
3. Auctions for parts and cars
4. Trading
5. Weekly competitions for individuals and clubs (turf wars)
6. Tournements
7. Weekly paycheques
8. Clubs
9. Live peer to peer racing (I like co-op the best)
10. The best driving psyhics ever
Sigh....
