Credit cards have a fraud protection where it tracks purchases and the card will not work if you try to go and max it right away.
Your probably the same person who bitches when credit card interest rates go up. Why do you think so? Cus idiots like you rip them off.

Activation is a sham, I forgot to activate my credit card (it was a CIBC Visa in case it matters). I put a nice $1,000 onto it (deposit for my Paradigms, and the limit on the card) and waited for my statement.
I got a call from Visa a few days later asking if I had recieved my card, I told them I did. They asked if I put that purchase on it, told them yes. That was all, thanked me and hung up (basically).
I could have lied and probably would have gotten my speakers for free. I realized that I forgot to activate it after the phone call.
Maybe other cars are less stupid than CIBC, not sure. I definitely call BS on the 0.5% tho.
