Hi All,

Has anyone here ever lost their wallet? I lost my drivers license, social security card, health card, visa card, debit card, and a few other useless cards. Does anyone know what a good starting point is? Maybe phoning visa and cancelling the credit card? How long does it typically take to get a new drivers license/health card/debit card/social security card?

Thanks

I actually had this happen a few years back, it sucked. First thing I did was cancel all my credit and bank cards. Then started to call the rest back (ie. licence, health card, etc)

Sorry to hear about the bad luck, it sucks!!

cancel all cards as mentioned above, another debit card should be pretty simple, just go into the bank when it's opened, visa cards might take a few more days to get mailed out to you.

Drivers license, sometimes they'll give you a temp piece of paper (in BC they did for me) in ab, they printed out hte picture and made it right there.

SS card and health care i dunno....probably have to get mailed out...but those aren't generally as needy

For me to get my bank card back it was a pain in the ***. lol. Credit cards just remailed them. But with the bank card I either had to go into the bank with photo id (which obviously i didnt have.. lol).. or answer about 20 personal questions over the phone most of them pertaining to exact figures on my bank account.. lol it was ap pain..

Well I found my wallet yeeah! Before I did though, I went to the bank with my passport and got another debit card, then used $10 to get a new drivers license. I also went to to the police station and they gave me a form to fill out, and it required the # of all the lost cards (how the hell do you remember #'s for all of your cards if they are no longer with you?). Anyways I am very relieved.

Here is my preventative solution: photocopy everything in your wallet front and back (this way you have card types, bank names, account numbers, expiration dates, emergency numbers etc.
Remember this piece of paper, if it were stolen, has as much value to a thief as your wallet!

That is a good idea, but I would definitely need to keep that piece of paper hidden far.

Call your bank, your CC companies and such and get the numbers from them could be an option lol
