Yeah I saw this advertisement in a magazine tonight almost posted it on my wall lol

It's easier to hide when your amongst the leechers, but when your a host its a lot harder to stay hidden.

Thing I wanna know though, is how they can catch you if your simply just downloading? There's gotta be over a million people downloading these things, they won't catch everyone.

They can't watch everybody but they will try. a better way of p2p has to come out. Maybe a P2P client that all the transactions are encrypted with like 256 bit encryption.

Still doesn't answer my question as to how they actually catch people... I think the only one who can answer that may be them themselves however...

Every way they come out with, there will always be a way to crack it.

Wouldn't that be illegal and an invasion of one's privacy?? I'd like to see where exactly this would fit in with privacy law...

It's just a loophole...We pay a tariff (tax) on cd's in Canada, the US doesn't...effectively that allows to share the song with another person...So when you p2p a file, they can't tell how many people you shared it with...So until they change that, we are fairly safe, also the US would have to jump through a hell of a lot hoops to get personal info from Canadian ISP's...

I heard it had something to do with privacy laws and copyright. Photocopiers in a public library, copyrighted content etc... It's been to court in Canada twice already and the second used the precadent of the first. This is all hearsay and I do not know the truth.
