If you aren't going to be ready for a year then don't even bother shopping right now. All of the specs and prices will be completely different when it comes time for you to buy it.

Actually Tyler you want a laptop with a Centrino processor, they last between 3 and 5 hours, a second battery will ensure it will last a day of school.
And for the hard drive,, if your always gonna have a desktop computer, network the 2 of them and go small on the harddrive in the laptop, like a 20 to 40gb, then just get a dvd rom drive. I don't think there is a laptop on the market that will not play dvd's these days..

very much so..... worked on everything from Apple IIe to my latest, the 17" Titanium. I've worked with every other model they've made - desktops, laptops, and servers. Familiar with all OS's from 6.x to MacOSX. Waiting on Tiger. Not many Apple guys around (which is the way I like it).
