FYI... no laptop will get you through a day of taking notes.

The best thing to do is make sure you get a decent name brand and then buy one with the most features you can afford.

Just take a look at the specs and make sure you weigh everything out because there is a certain price point at which you're just paying to have the 'latest & greatest' rather than getting what you pay for.

(best thing to do is to go to FS and find a couple you like and can afford. Then bring the specs to us and we'll help you out)

i would like ot try and keep it a HP computer, becsaue every computer in my house is HP(Hewlett Packard). well im kinda looking for something a 2.8 GHz processor. around 512mb of ram memory. 160 Gb hard drive. sometihng with a good video card. can burn cd's, dvd's would be a nice feature to have, but not really needed. screen size is not to much of a big thing just as long as it's around a 15" screen. and as gor price im not really sure as what my price limte is, i have over a year to kinda fig out what i can afford. i need this cause i have major problems with keeping up with writeing note's, this will just make it that much easier. i would like to be able to customize it before i buy it, just so it suit's my need's. The main thing's that will be on the memory, 200 or 300 song's, 1 or 2 game's, i rarely play game's any more, but it would be nice to have so if im bored i have soemthing to do. the vid card has to be atleast 64mb(128mb would be nice), or i can't play game's from now, i'll have to go dig for my old game's.

this is why i hate shopping for stuff, so many dang option's to pic from, you can't just pic one out and it has everything you need.

i'll get back to you guy's with what i have come up with, this just kinda give's ya an idea of what i need.

The more fancy stuff you have, the less your battery is going to last. You don't need a 128 meg video card for playing dvd's.

I would get a Centrino processor becuase they are huge power savers.

Tyler desktops are best for DVD's & Games. The more you use the CD/DVD Rom the more battery you suck back. Its not always the game that sucks the power its what the game is running from (CD/DVD).

Good luck finding a reasonably priced laptop with a 160GB harddrive. If you want a laptop that will have the longest battery, get a slower processor, but more ram. Look for a mobile intel M processor. They have slower clock speeds, but consume much less power. 300 songs should only take up about 2GB max. Another game or two shouldn't be more than 4GB. So if you got one with a 30 or even 60GB harddrive, you should have more than enough space.
