FTP back in the days? FTP is still the best by far IMO, as long as you got good servers. And I purchased the new Nickelback CD (not for me, for the gf) and "backed it up" onto the computer. I noticed it wouldn't CDDA the song names so I filled them in, but otherwise it ripped fine. I used some program called CDEX.

What I don't understand is why some people have file sharing program just to download mainstream music.
I have it mainly to get lesser known (better) music that I normally can't find in stores.
If it's a mainstream group, I either buy the CD or don't buy it depending on whether or not it's crap.

Everyone has some interesting points. I am lucky because my sister has friends that work at HMV and Music World, so we get everything at cost. I have my own "code" or rules for downloading music off of the internet. This goes for movies, and TV Shows aswell.
How many people own a VCR, or a Stereo, and how many people have recorded something off of the TV or Radio and then played it back. No one seemed to have a problem with this before, otherwise why would there be so many VCRs that have the Record function to them!
Now we have digital media. Personally, downloading music as a File, rather than onto Tape or CD from the Airwaves. It is no different.
Before I buy, I make sure that there is at least 3 songs that I want from that CD, otherwise, why am I going for fork out $22.99 + tax for 3 songs.
Even all of this sharing, sales have no declined what so ever for artists. I rather see 70 or 80, or 90 million in the "tax" made off of the Blank CDs, split multiple ways between the artists, then have all go to one.
Honestly, I hate it how these Sports Players, Artists, Lawyers, and especially CEOs complaining that they are ONLY gettting 20 Million rather than 25 Million.
I make $25,000 a year and I'm fine!
I really find it funny how Kazaa is suing the RIAA for using Illegal Software (KazaaLite) to obtain the information on the artists.
Perhaps KazaaLite can have a "downloaded" install just like Kazaa does, and if the IP address belongs to the RIAA IP Range... It downloads a virus that will wipe out their computers.

They should just shut down Kazaa and every other program like it. But they can't because the companies just argue that they share pics, and software and data, so it's not their fault that people share MP3's on it. And it doesn't matter what they do to protect CD's. As soon as they come out with a cd that has files in different formats and other stuff to try and protect the cd, they will just start adding that data into the ripping and burning programs. So I don't know why the record companies waste extra money to change things in the CD when new programs will be out in a matter of days that can rip right through their protective measures!

"I love mIRC you can find full albums and just download the entire thing. You can also find music that isn't even released yet and you can find it usually 2-3 weeks earlier than it appears on Kazaa. And it is all usually in 192kbps or higher!"
SO are you FOR pirating (since you even have an MP3 of the week in your sig) or AGAINST pirating??
