And yes I read the entire threads but weed out all the profiling and you get down to the basics of my theorem. Hell I enjoy some 60s/70s stuff and some 90s/new stuff but when I reach for something I really "want" to listen to, for me it's gotta be the 80s.

As for more recent iconic musical acts: Eminem, Greenday, and Nickleback, to name a few, love 'em or hate 'em will be remembered as musical successes.

I don't know what you mean, I never said Pearl jam, and Nirana were the be all and end all of music, in fact Black sabath, and Ozzy are one of my favorite bands... I have been 'praising' most music that came out before I was 10... so I don't know how your theory works in my case... as a generalisation I would agree, but I don't see it in my case...

Thats not what I said at all, I said you make yourself sound like a Rock and Metal fan rather than a fan of all things music.

I agree with the people who are saying this.

Whatever generation you grew up in those years are going to have bands that defined the music for those years and they're the one's you're going to remember because those were the songs you heard playing over and over on the radio when you were out getting into trouble or sitting around the fire.
Whether you want to call those bands iconic doesn't matter as they were indeed iconic for a certain era.

I'm 29 and soon to be 30 in January (

) so my music gen is mostly in the 90's. The 90's was my music and the music I remember most even though I also listened to tons of music from the 70's and 80's also (and still do). Personally I was never much of a Nirvana fan but Alice in Chains hell yeah.

So say what you will about todays music but in 20 years when Time Life is hocking one of their "Hits of 2000" CD's it's going to include Nickelback and Eminem and people will buy it because they remembered all those hits.
