Looks like nice big speakers in the doors also

I'm looking for a new small SUV, good on gas, doesn't have to be 4x4, that has enough room to throw all my work gear into or a couple golf bags (plus obviously a small sub which will likely be one of my OZ Matrix Elites)
The Caliber/Compass was too small and I didn't like the Liberty as the hatch area was really small. Chev has nothing that I'm interested in. Ford '08 Escape was a thought but the lease rate is 10% so it's a no.

So if anyone's got an opinion either plus or minus please go ahead and share. It's a new 2008 model.
The Caliber / Compass is the same basic truck, but the Patriot is a little bigger. I do like the Patriot and am definately considering it.
I love the CVT and it had a nice ride quality. (I drove it about 6 months ago). Now apparently the second year has some pre-set "gears" so if you wanted to drive it with AutoStick you can actually have shift points, or just put it in D and use the CVT.
I think it looks like the Original Cherokee (which I liked) and the 2WD is apparently elidgeable for the $1,000 save the envrionment tax break/cash back deal.

I would say take it for a drive, if you haven't driven a CVT before I would say try it out, some people hate it.

Well the Nitro is bigger... plus it's a "Dodge" so the re-sale value won't be there as much as the "Jeep" name.

I ended up purchasing a '08 Mazda CX-7. Pics can be seen in my SD page and I am very pleased with it so far.

i think the patriot was voted one of the 11 worst cars made... My caliber has the life time warranty, also chrysler is about to drop a bunch of models to get rid of all the really similar vehicles through out the dodge jeep and chrysler name plates and i believe the patriot is one of them....

the nitro looks like sex but i drove one and really wasnt impressed, not to mention its base price was more then the caliber srt-4?

on to the CVT, my caliber has it and no word of lie i hated the thing for at least the first month, then i learned how to drive with it... Dodges software in the tranny is *****, but the transmission is really great once you get the hang of it

as a testament to how bad the software is that dodge uses, the new lancer and the caliber share the same platform and are close in weight yet the lancer has a way better 0-60 because of mitsus software in the transmission. but i have 20,000 trouble free km with the tranny so far, and my only complaint is that dodge has it prog'd to cut power until you reach around 25mph, but once your moving the thing really flies, theres no waiting for down shifts you just hit the peddle and it goes, and it brings a whole new meaning to smooth
