Low light shots it sucks...but outside shots come out amazing, I have 1 shot where it's my sister and her bf and it looks photo shopped.. it blurred out the back just enough to make them really stand out.. Only paid 430$ for the camera at the time.. far better then the 750$ I paid 2 years prior for my Dx6490....

When I shopped for my second digital camera last year, most salespeople told me the same things:
#1 - Get the biggest optical zoom you can afford
#2 - Get the highest resolution you can afford
#3 - Stick with a specialized camera manufacturer
#4 - Decide what type of media card suits you best
I've owned a Pentax Optio & now a Canon S1IS. I liked the Pentax's size but it had a limited 3x optical zoom. I LOVE the S1IS with it's 10x optical zoom but it's a little bulkier & probably not in your price range yet. I would wholeheartedly endorse both these brands.

I bought a Canon A520 recently. $349 at Best Buy and included a 256meg memory card. Couldn't pass it up. Similar to the A85 I hear with one or two less features. I really like it. Not hard on battries either unlike the Olympus one our work has, but it's sort of a tank at 4 years old. Good thing I dropped it and broke it

There's also the new Kodak P850 or P880... P850 is 5.1mp with 12x optical zoom raw format vga video 640*480 at 30fps, or the P-880 which is 8mp with 5.8X optical.. same video rate as the P -850.. and is holding right up there with the canons and highers that be!... Quite the camera...
