Are iPods worth it?

i dont think ipods are worth it .yes they store alot of music but the battery life sux and the are expencive.you should really look into minidisk players.they are cheaper than i pod have amazing battery life(50+hours on one AA) and they dont skip.and extra disks are under $5 and hold 700 mb.
imo minidisk > mp3 > ipod

MiniDiscs have HORRENDOUS sound quality because you need to recompress into propriety ATRAC3 codec. In addition the amp on all the MD units is 2mW per channel. This translates into poor sound quality due to crappy amp and bad encoding.
And the 1GB minidisc capacity is BS. It's actual capacity is ~330MB which is "effectively" 1GB when you choose to encode in like 48kbps ATRAC3 plus.
