Apple's specifications specify a battery life of 8 hours (12 hours for the 4th generation iPod). Many factors can, of course, influence this. Under good conditions, you should indeed get around 8 hours of battery life on a new iPod. This amount varies with age, usage style, and other factors, such as music format, backlight use, etc. To get the most out of your battery, follow these tips:

Ipods have a 25min antishock memory. Apple claims you can run with them without skipping. Whether or not this can cause damage to the internal harddrive over time is not known (or at least not commented on by apple).
There are a few differentr kinds of MP3's players. You have hard drive based (Ipod, Creative Nomad, Rio Karma), flash memory based and then flash memory based upgradable ones.
I have a Rio Chiba ($99.00 online at FS) with 128mb internal memory. It has an expansion slot which acepts a 1gig sd card ($99 for a sandisk at staples on sale). I take it skiing and it has never ever skipped. I get between 12-15hrs out of a single AAA battery.

If you look into IPOD gets Hp's Version 1 years warranty VS 90 Day warranty from APPLE.. and there all the same price I think the 20 gig was 299 or 399$ can't member a buddy bought one near Xmas time.. 1 year free support/hardware.. Apple 1 free tech call in the 90 day warranty that's it and service of course... For the same price no brainer which to get there exactly the same except HP has there logo on the back of the IPOD.
