Like I mentioned, my brother in law makes $1500 a day, but that also includes his truck, fuel, laptop, etc. He has been in the idustry 20+ years and has worked his way to the top.

^ Entirely plausible. Even our senior engineers making around $100k/year have a charge-out rate of $130/hour. And that's just in the consulting engineering business. Oil and Gas consulting including vehicle expenses and all that, I can easily see $150+/hour. Frick, the senior accountants where my wife work bill out at over $300/hour [img]graemlins/freak.gif[/img]
BUT the thing to keep in mind here is whether or not the consultant is his own business or not. For example, I make the equivalent of just over $25/hour but my charge-out rate is $75/hour. Now if I was my own company, that $75/hour would be mine but I would also be on the hook for all of my own expenses, overhead, insurance, taxes, benefits, etc etc.
