call me what you will, but im watching the news on the hurricane back east, and the government is starting relief funds for the people who didnt have insurance, because "its un-fair to them". How is unfair that people who CHOSE not to purchase insurance, get to be "insured" anyways off our tax dollars?

I agree with you on this one, just for the fact that so many people out there have insurance and when something happens they do not get covered for one reason or another. Eg. you may ask? My cousin just had a flood in her basement and all the furniture was destroyed however her insurance is not going to cover it because they say the basement was not suitable for the things she had down there. It should of only been used for storage not a rec room.

I agree with Orion on this one. My parents live in N.S. and they were pretty well off not getting much of the storm. You take your chances if you choose not to purchase insurance covering this type of thing and if you make the wrong decision you will have to pay for it in the end.
I could see this for people with insurance companies unwilling to pay for some technical reason (Hurricane caused flooding, flooding not considered act of God, etc.)

Maybe I'll take the insurance off my car. It'll save a few bucks and if anything happens the government will feel pity for me and buy me a new car
