Anyone got any good advice on gaining some weight? If been trying to do this for years and the most I got was only 5 pounds
I'm at 155 now and my goal is to get around 175
And the McDiet isn't workin for me... I could eat 3 bigmacs a day and gain nothing at all
The only thing that helped was those protien shakes, but I went through one tub a week for like a month and only saw 5 pounds, and that stuff is costly.

Best advice i can give is to lift heavy. If you already are working out in the gym id suggest 3 or 4 days a week with weights and absolutely no cardio. Lift in the 3-6 rep range per set and stick to compound movements such as bench, military press, squats, deadlifts etc. If you dont currently workout I'd definitely suggest taking it up...good stress relief above all else. Your first month or so should be higher reps to get your body used to all the movements then you can gradually lower them as you get more comfortable.
As far as nutrition id aim for atleast 1 gram of protein per lb of bodyweight per day. And 2 or 3 grams of carbs. Eat a good breakfast and try to be full all the time...all day. Before bed try to get in a full meal with lots of protein and fat.
Should work, just need time.

Your metabolism is still in overdrive. I was about 145 pounds at age 25. My friends all were 200+ and were intent on getting me into the gym and eating better. That proved to be the turning point for me. Within a year I had packed on 40 pounds. Will it work for you, try it and find out.

DO NOT EAT FAT BEFORE BED. les you saw me at checcos show I weighed 155 or so, body fat was about 10% or so. now i am 200 and have 6% body fat, lots of heavy lifting and low reps like wagonized said.eat tons of pasta, chicken and fish for protine,I know you will get results, aswelltry and eat every 2-3 hours what ever chips, vegges, apple something to put in your stomach.bodybuilders acually wake up in the middle of the night too eat, if I got results with my metabelism being hyperactive when I was younger and now being 24 you should too.remember results take time so don't get discuraged if you don't see results before febuary.

Neve heard of bodybuilders waking up in the middle of the night to eat...as far as i know they try to get a steady 7 or 8 hours rest consistently and stay away from naps during the day as sleeping slows the metabolism.

Bodybuilding, I know a thing or two on this subject and there's some really bad info in this thread so far.
First, if you want to put on size then you need to do three things: Eat, workout, sleep. Repeat.
Lifting heavy (3-6rep range) will help with overall strength but it isn't what you want for building lean mass. You want to be in the 8-10 range to put on size.
Second, don't listen to anyone that tells you to eat "whatever" and "eat everything around you". You want to eat a ton but you want to eat clean (and not chips like someone else mentioned as their are much better choices that will actually help you put on size and not just fat).
You want enough protien out during the day to let your body repair and remain anabolic, enough carbs to fuel workouts, vegetables for fuel, anti-oxidents, etc., and good fats for healthy joints, etc.
http://www.bodybuilding.com/ is a great site for all the info you need on these subjects. Good luck!

Ya my metabolism was really high till I was about 26, then I gained like fourty pounds in six months, I was 196 at world finals, that was the heaviest I have been. Now, I'm at 185, and feel very weak-can only bench 200lbs now
