Kilowatt,
Have a look first at the Rotel forum at http://www.htguide.com/forum/ Lotsa Canucks there too.
Not sure what your budget is for the speakers? I really like my Paradigm Reference Studio's (60 for mains and 20 for rears). Another brand is Energy Veritas line. Top of the line Paradigm Reference is the Signature series at selected dealers.

Thanks for the link David, I had no idea about the forum.
As for speakers, the dealer I preffer to do buisness with carries Paradigm, JM Labs, and B&W so they will most likely be one of those. There is a dealer here who carries the Energy Veritas stuff, but I am not a big fan of their shop. I will definitely check them out tomorrow though.

Kilowatt,
I have demoed the Paradigm Reference Signature Series (bookshelf model)...what an excellent speaker (over $2K per pair though)! Very smooth, but highs were a bit too crispy (due to a poor room???)....a common trait by Paradigm I guess.
Another speaker brand to consider is PSB Stratus Gold i or Silver i. The Sony Stores typically carry PSB.
You are probably aware of other well known HT forums like http://www.hometheaterforum.com http://www.avsforum.com http://www.hometheaterspot.com http://www.hometheatertalk.com
Canadian based HT forums: http://www.digitalhome.ca http://www.canadian-tv.com/forums/
What are you using visually (i.e. projector/RPTV/plasma)?

Like mentioned above, the Elite 52TX and the 1014 are pretty much identical except for an RS232 port and some extra features. You can go buy your elite and think its 10X better than the pioneer.
1) 2 yr warranty on 52TX vs. 1yr on 1014TX
2) High Gloss finish and Elite tag on 52TX
3) RS-232C port on 52TX
4) Multi-Room/Multi-Source Input/Output on 52TX
5) 12-V trigger on 52TX (didn't see this on the rear panel diagram of the 1014TX)
6) Extra monitor output for Multiroom/Multisource on 52TX
7) Extra channel of preout on 52TX (8 vs 7 for the 1014TX)
8) Transformer stabilizer on 52TX (unknown if 1014TX has this)
9) VSX-52TX made in Malaysia, VSX-1014TX-K made in Indonesia? Someone please confirm this
10) MSRP of $1,000 vs $650 = $350 difference although street prices can differ by only $250-$350 from authorized dealers to as little as $150 from unauthorized internet dealers.
HK is nice but high quality and Pioneer should never be used in the same sentence unless you talking "Elite"

Cool! Thanks again David.
For visuals I will be going the projector route, most likely an Infocus unit, not sure which model just yet. The house we bought has the special "projector paint" screen on the wall, and a projector mount in the theater room. I will most likely buy a motorized screen once Sony releases their black screens which are said to eliminate light washout.
I just noticed you were in the interior, your not in Prince George are you?

Kilowatt,
If you are considering a DLP, have a look at the Infocus Screenplay 4805 for around $1800-$1900 plus taxes. See Canadian pricing here: http://www.duocom.ca Prices on the SP4805 have come down....not all Infocus dealers are selling at the lower prices.
The Benq PE5120 is very similar to the Infocus SP4805. Here's a detailed review and comparison between the PE5120 and SP4805 (note fan noise, colour wheel speed and lumen differences):
http://www.projectorcentral.com/benq_pe5120.htm This is THE site for projector reviews.
