Home Audio help...

Ok... I'm hoping for some help from people who are knowledgeable about home audio.

I'd like to set up my Phoenix Gold cyclone to act as the subwoofer in my HT setup.

The thing is.. it has very specific requirements in terms of the crossover.

Basically it must be an active X-over and at 18db/octave at a minimum.

So far I haven't been able to find anything in terms of an active X-over for home audio. (all have been passive)

Does such a thing exist? .. if so, can you suggest one that would be good? Or at least a place I can start looking?

thanks in advance

you could alway use a pro audio electronic x-over like the RANE AC-22, or something smilar. even the 12V one (Audio Control 2XS, 24XS etc) will work... you just have to pick up a 1A 110V to 12V DC adapter.

x2, or you can get a plate amp. i got a pair of home theater sub boxes, a 12" vega with a 100 plate amp, and a passive paradigm 10" in a bandpass box being diven by a kenwood 200watt power amp. the vega is downfiring and provides alot more punch than the paradigm. but nothing close to what you get compared with car audio.

home audio is years behind the times. since the move into this 5.1 channel bullsh!t you need to spend a pretty penny to get a half decent 2 channel amp. i`m waiting for the move of having the same thump in your living room, like you have in the car!! rant over!!!!!

Lightbulb

Jordy - if you are interested in making one I have a link at work to a DIY article for active crossovers. Hit me up tomorrow for it.

Other than that I agree with Joe - get a little 110v to 12v transformer and use a car audio crossover.

Behringer makes a great unit for really cheap that does digital crossovers up to 48 dB/oct, and it's controllable from a PC
