HDMI cables $12 or $250?

Ever wondered what the difference is between the $12 and the $250 HDMI cables? Have a look at this...
CBC.ca - Marketplace | Packing the Deal
Turns out there is absolutely no difference in picture or sound quality at all.

Yeah I always kinda figured it was all marketing hype like with the RCAs etc. The fact that they tested 3 sets of them and found absolutely no difference at all kills me.

There's a difference with RCAs, it carry an analog signal VS HDMI it's digital.

It's way harder to disrupt a digital signal because it's a square wave that only represent 0 (0-2v) and 1 (3-5v) VS analog it carry the full spectrum and noise can affect the quality of the signal. That's why even the cheapest HDMI cable (as long it respect the standard) will give you the same results than the one at 100+$

On the other hand, for sound quality analog with good interconnect will beat an average digital DAC but that's another debate...

For my HTPC is use the RGB with a coax HD-15 25' cable and you cant see the difference. HDMI is good but plain old analog can give the same result when using the right equipement.

The only time HDMI cable quality might matter is if you're running super long lengths, like 25FT or more. Anything under that and it's cheap cables all the way!

this is true. Im not saying that you can't get the same quality by anymeans, but when it comes to a simple all in one cable, hdmi is the way to go, less headaches and even a drunk *** could figure it out!! lol. Also I bought a 6' Hdmi cable from Canada computers $19 after everything said and done!

My HDMI cables were $3 each.... I bought like 7 of them at once (for me and a buddy) .... I forget the name of the site I got them off of but they're actually pretty good quality and sooooooooo cheap!
