IMHO, US foreign policy has a lot to do with the negative image America has.

This hatred for America and its people is not the fault of individuals living in the US, either. From the minute they are born, they are told how great their country is and how great the American people are - better than everybody else. American arrogance? I guess it's really hard to be an American and understand it all. Watching the behaviour of American athletes at the Olympics over the last two decades is an example of this brand of arrogance. Brat Hull et al trashing their rooms in Nagano after their loss - the US track team pumping their fists and mocking the competition, etc. The Russians (at one point) and Aussies win their fair share of medals, but people don't dislike them for winning - why is this?
.
Rock on buddy, I cant begin to emphasise this enough. Thanks so much for exemplfing the truth here. I think the hatred is that 'Mr.EastSide Yankee' talks about is caused mostly by the mentality set by Ronald Reagan. Whereas in words would be "The Americans are the best, I dont care what you say, and our crap doesn't stink" Its just that snooty nose if we fail, nobody is to know, but if we succeed, tell the world. My disgust for US mentality was best shown by the Olympics 100 meter dash, with Donovan Bailey, and his AMerican runner competitor. Clinton, in his private office said to the runner, if you cant win againest him, fake an injury, since the loss would be harmful to us pride. The US runner knew he at athe start he was going to lose, so oops, he pulls a hamstring, perfect timing eh? whatever, what a frickin' crock. I know people are going to give me factual representation regarding why this is not true. but growing up in Canada, I saw WAY WAY WAY too many examples of this. I think the Canadian engineered Avro Arrow, and its ultra-controversial shut-down, as per agreement between Deifenbaker and the US president at the time would also further explain this. Yes, your right COUNTLESS countries hate US: why else would US citizens dressup in maple leafs, and other Canadian clothing when they travel. but with crap like this happening CONTSTANTLY, why do you Americans even 'WONDER' why? The GDP of the US is tens of trillions of dollars written out thats
20-100,000,000,000,000.00 is $350,000,000 even noticable? define generousity, when global country funding is only done on a selfish premises
