I'd find someone with a 2000 with 16"wheels, and see if they experience any rubbing.
if they don't,put your problem tire/wheel on their car and see if the offst is the problem.
if that is the problem, perhaps gm might trade to a different style of wheel.

I'm just still trying to get over the fact that you spent $30,000 on a J-body...

I spent 30$k cause I put extra warranty/body/pain protection, we figured we would have a kid in the next 1-5 years and last thing I need to do is have X$$$ to dish out after the stock warranty is up. The car was 24,995$ after taxes of course that jumped another 4grand.. and the warranty/paint was like 2500$.... All is fixed now we've only brought it in 4 times I think since having it for almost 2 years so no complaints thus far.

I traded my Grand Am because of:

- bad steering rack
- bad strut bearing plates
- possible coolant in oil
- etc etc etc

I've seen how little abuse recent model compacts and mid sizers can take as Four Cylinders on a race track. One hit to the suspension and the car is pretty much written off. The North American car makers are designing "Bic lighter" cars now.

Oh, by the way, we picked up a 1999 BMW 323i for just over 17 grand (our second E46). Now THIS is a properly engineered car!
