If the tire didn't rub before the accident I would take the car to another GM dealer and get them to look at it.
To me it just sounds like something else is to blame instead of the tire size.

It's pretty obvious something is wrong with the car.
Maybe something was wrong to start off with, just the problem didn't surface until the tire incident happened.

I hate to say this, but I don't think it's really GM enginerring that sucks, as much as it is their Cavliers suck. There is a reason why the Cavalier is their cheapest/almost cheapest car, is that ****ty worksmanship goes into these.
I have a friend who works on the Cavalier line at GM, and the stories he's told me are unbelievable.
They figure that because it's usually young people that buy these cars they can ship them out with probems, because they will bring them back.
One time they put together a door, the window whould not roll down without falling out of the track, the manager just said it's fine, ship it.
I mean with such a careless attitude towards the line theres no wonder why a lot of them have problems.
Now, Buick on the other hand, I've been told that it is the exact opposite.

It's not a matter of doubting there's something wrong with it, Gm already stated there's something wrong with it so wether I take it to "Jim Bob's GM" or "Redneck Charlies Gm" they will be told the same info from the Gm Tech Line. I called Gm direct and got the same response it's a known issue with the car and not having bumpers to stop the bigger sized tires from rubbing. As for the accident wise the replaced almost everything they could except for the sub frame, they did the Strut, Lower control arm/upper arm, spindle etc etc event he rim is brand new now granted since replacing the rim the grinding/rubbing it not as loud so the rim was bent first off. As for Cavaliers/Sunfire yeah cheap cars etc etc, but considering how popular they are/where I doubt they would let quality control down that much, as for a window not working they would just have the dealership fix it up.. easier that way instead of holding up the production line does your friend work in states? Cause far as I new Cavaliers anyway where made in Youngstown Ohio or something. Any I still concluded it's Gm's crap *** engineering if they sell it I have no problem going to a new company, it's not the " well if you don't do something I won't buy your product" bull**** I get from customers it will be just meh gives me an excuse to try something new which if I do get something it won't be car next anyway, some sort of suv makes it easier when the baby comes out next april/may.

What I meant by taking it to another GM dealership is that since your dealer has stated there's nothing more they can do, another shop may take another look at it.
Maybe they used the wrong part somewhere (unlikely I know but what do you have to lose by trying)? They may try harder to fix your problem to sway your future business over to them.

I've just seen it happen before where the second dealership fixed the problem where the original had no clue (Both reputable Toyota dealers actually).

^^^^True yeah I guess I will give it a shot can't hurt, I mean a guy here at work has a 2003 Neon kept making knocking noises etc etc, dealership said it's normal blah blah buddy was like I don't think so, so he took it to another dealership sure enough the crank bearings I belive it was where spun had to rebuild the engine or lower half anyway took it back to the other dealership and was like " No problem eh it's normal? I had to have my engine rebuilt because of your "No that's normal" all the dealership said back to him was "Couln't have been" "Well it was, cause it doesn't knock anymore". But yeah I will take it to another dealership and see what they say and if they see the subrame is bent which it could be the only thing left then I will freak on the the dealership I bought it from.

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but recently well back in October or so I brought the car back in for couple other things to get fixed and when I get it back what do I find ? The rubbing is gone and all is fixed, the mechanic checked out the subframe abut did abit of adjusting and poof all fixed!, So in the end all was fixed but I still think Gm is a bunch of ******** to refuse to fix this "known" issue that didn't really exist.

Mine had a recall on the ignition switch. I waited until something else went wrong before taking it in as that recall wasn't serious.
Well I had a bad ground somewhere in the wiring harness so I brought it in. When it came back the wiring was fixed as was the ignition switch but now my horn doesn't work. And I need my horn around here!

I don't know how many times my friends have brought their 2003 and 2004 J-Bodies in for warranty work ... But I'd guess they average about once a month ...

It's usually nothing serious, but still ... How many attempts should it take to get the foglights working properly ?
