Unions have there place.. oh say about 10/15 years ago. Now with the governments own policies the unions only help the dogg****ers. I worked for non-unions most of my life. Worked for unions short term and hate it.
To bad for the car companies and all the poor buggers who just got screwed. Heard for every car made 5000.00 right off the top goes to pensions they have. ( retired people ) Medical costs in the USA also makes alot of sense to build more cars in Canada( but our taxes are so damn high! ) Just wait until this year and open trading gets pushed through ( duty free with Europe and CHINA! )
Not a bad thing just going to change alot more things...

I'm in a union, they havn't done anything for me in 10 months, I've been sitting on my **** unemployed. then lsat thursday they call and want to to go work for 3 weeks on a construction job, so I can lose the job I have now, work 3 weeks and go back to the bottom of the list and start all over again, I told them to go screw themselves.
Unions are only in business to benefit the union, the workers mean nothing to them.

I think that this is just the beginning... our economy is so bloated, housing prices, wages etc are so much higher than the rest of the world's standard that we're going to end up falling, and falling hard.
Problem #1: North american governments have figured out the correlation between economic prosperity and votes: ie. if people have high paying jobs and disposable income, then they will vote for the current government to stay in power.
Problem #2: "Get it now, pay for it later" everyone is encouraged to get up their eyeballs in debt just so that they can have everything that they want, and as long as they make the minimum payment, everyone's happy.
Problem #3:city-centred population. our populatoin has forgotten how to fend for itself. If the people of canada grew their own vegetables and livestock, we'd have a lot more stable economy.
Has no-one else noticed that ford, GM and chrysler are practically giving their cars away? North american car companies are simply producing vehicles to keep people employed in a production system that is entrenched in 1960's mindset and technology, which the UAW and CAW perpetuate because it serves the union's needs, and not the needs of anyone but the unions.
I read in the paper today that GM loses over 2300 dollars for every car they sell. ford makes less than 200 dollars, and chrsyler makes just over 230 dollars. compared to the Japanese who make over 1000 for every car... Nissan makes over 1600/car.
Our economy is going to collapse, it may take a few years, but it will fall, and fall very hard.
anyone know of any jobs for electricians in alberta?? LOL
