I was a credit counselor at my last job, trying to keep folks out of trouble. It was a lot of work to get into debt and it will be a lot of work to get yourself out of debt. I would avoid bankruptcy as much as possible. The root of the problem is a lack of discipline in your spending habits, fix that first. Don't go crazy with this but you have received a lot of good advice, simply live within your means. A loan or even winning the lottery will eventually result in the same thing unless you live within your means.

Hey Fat I have a question. What is the best way to build credit rating. My dad always said to buy things on the visa and make sure to pay it off every month, and to pay bills on time. In a year or two, I will be looking to buy a house, and will probably have to get a mortgage. I want to build up my credit rating as much as possible in the next two years. Any advice?

Thanks
