Tell your boss it would help moral around the office if he would come out and spend some time getting to know the staff.
Take the boss along to your favourite pub with the rest of the co-workers there and have a few drinks.
After a few drinks have the bartender play a videotape for you on all the videoscreens in the bar.
The videotape should contain you and his wife on his desk.

Works on so many levels but should only be used in extreme cases where he is either a real jerk or has put a rather large knife in your back on his climb up the ladder.

Christmas hangover. Sorry I didn't read all the way down.

If I was to get fired I would want to know that what I did with the company was positively recognized and that there was a good reason for my dismissal.

Some of you guys are a hoot....

Dave Mac, I'm assuming that was to GE, or Cando, because not too many companies do that type of stuff.

...and it's not 1 guy...I've got 11 managers, and approx. 150 workers to let go.

150+ workers..

Adam if it was only one worker or a few who work in the same field, maybe try to point them in the direction of possible work. Maybe do some calls to see if you could help find lines on jobs in which they could maybe be used for.

Try to soften the blow if at all possible by helping..this will probably be very difficult to do, but it would help ease the hardness of it...I hope..

How to fire people… Early retirement packages have been the tool of choice in my industry (but it really thins the knowledge base)

Well how would you like to go?

The truth

Lay out all the info on severance packages

Provide info on unemployment benefits

Provide resume writing assistance

Set up ‘head hunters’ for the terminated
