Surprisingly high number for the Bloc QB, gotta give it to those quebecers, at least they're showing they dont want to bend over and take it from the liberals, unlike us here in Ontario
A little dissappointed in the democrat numbers, btw, when are they going to change their name, they're not really _new_ anymore, are they?
I was hoping for a conservative minority although i doubted it would happen. What's so wrong with privatised health care, i dont get sick, why should i have to pay for people that do.
Looking at the final number, even though martin claims he wont seek a coalition, Lib+ndp = 154, Cons+bloc = 153. hmm. go independant go. At least it is a minority, hopefully that will keep the spend/tax/spend/tax BS down a bit. Im capable of deciding how i want to spend my own money, that is, if i had any left after taxes.

They HAVE to make the country work, whoever it is. There is only so much money to be moved around.
Best thing that ANY party could theoretically do is try to eliminate wasted money on beaurocracy which is NOT going to happen now that a TON of commitees have been instated to verify that money isn't being lost.
I voted Liberal, not because I think they are the best choice, but because I did NOT want the Conservatives to win. Sounds sad, but having the lesser of two evils is my choice.
Basically, now we have a HUGE problem that the Canadian Alliance/Reform/Progressive Conservative/Conservative party has NO stance except to try and be anti-Liberal. Thus, we can expect the Conservatives to go against EVERYTHING the Liberals come up with until, I presume, the party splits back up again. I assume this because being Canadian Alliance (formerly called Reform since it was more descriptive) and Progressive Conservative at the same time seems kinda stupid.
Our country will get nothing accomplished in 4 years. Ideally the NDP will do a LOT better next time.

Ettore so you got sucked in by the Liberal "fear of change" campaign. You say that you don't want to waste money on beaurocracy, funny how right wing governments such as Conservative believe in smaller governments w/ less beaurocracy.
It won't be 4 years until the next election, btw.

Paul Martin started this campaign, saying he was going to "reach out" to the west. Halfway through when he realized that the Conservatives could beat him, he did what Liberals do best. Pander to the "center of the universe" with scare tactics that the Conservatives would introduce "western Canada style government". What this meant to Ontario is that they would be forced to own guns, join the military and go to Iraq. Not be allowed to have abortions or get married if you are gay. What it really meant was we wouldn't waste BILLIONS of dollars on a gun registry to prevent crime (how many criminals have registered their guns?), our military would get helicopters that didn't spontaneously fall out of the sky, I doubt the right to an abortion would be taken away, and Gays would be allowed unions but that it would be called something other than marriage as that is the domain of the church and only they have the right to change it.
So Martin launches personal attacks on Ralph Klein, perhaps the most popular Premier in the history of Canada and pisses off the entire province of Alberta, not unlike when Trudeau gave us the finger. Well Ontario, I hope that Klein goes ahead with his health reforms that violate the Health Act. Next year when Alberta becomes the only Province (or even the only government period) to not have any debt whatsoever, I hope we stop sending our transfer payments to Quebec and the maritimes, and the west rises up and shows those Bloc Quebecios how to really separate a province from a corrupt Federal Government. Just so you know, I don't really want Alberta to separate, but it seems to help the Quebecers get what they want and they would be worse off without Canada whereas Canada seems to do nothing for Alberta.
